Starbucks

Nothing is more fun than sitting at Starbucks, sipping Hazelnut Choco, eating Oatmeal Raisin Scone, and watching people laughing and smoking at 700 am early in the morning....I was quite surprise that morning brewing is Jakarta's habit now since I am not Starbucks frequent flyer..

In any case, I love scone..it brings your childhood memory and feels like eating kue balok, if you guys happened to know kue balok (hik!) I promised to review kue balok soon..

Hummingbird Cafe

Spending weekend at Hummingbird cafe on Progo street Bandung...Cozy place with cool wallpaper as their point of interest, not to mention the flirty camel (haha!)..The wallpaper was made to order I guess,with the hummingbird encyclopedia on it...nice!

This is what I ate...a buckwheat flour pancake with cheese filing and bratwurst on top, a thin bit crispy pancake melted with the cheese and a hint of blackpepper sauce..It's surprisingly perfect melted in your mouth, yum!

Salute to Teachers

I had to do presentation last week. The first time I have to present in the more formal way, and the participants were coming from the different backgrounds and nationality....

This is more to teaching mode and I just realized that teaching is way more difficult especially when they were really not into the subject (sigh!)

Lucky, one of the presenter, a lady from Bangkok, giving me a huge compliment on my batik dress...I should pack my batik collections more instead,she said...Yay,that was the most happiest moment during the day, someone is in love with batik!

Soooo...to teachers wherever you are.....I salute you!

My 1st Cooking Order

I received my first RhumChoco cooking order..the menus are Nasi tumpeng and baked rice,offcourse lah...what else?

I go asked my maid to carefully calculate the ingredients completed with the price now...well,she's quite professional as you can see!haha..

And look...my 1st RhumChoco baked rice and RhumChoco tumpeng rice....hmmm, doesn't it sound weird?

Cork&Screw

I am the Cork and Screw resto big fan..not sure why, it's probably the closest from my office with tempting food choices. It's easy to impress my office guests without being trapped in the traffic, only few blocks ahead.  I could never resist their  non-alcohol Virgin Mojito..

And their famous triple choco melted cakes.  It comes with 3 softcakes - vanilla, choco and dark choco melted. I always exchange the vanilla with another dark choco as the vanillas bit too sweet for me.  I am not a choco fan anyway..You must try the combination of the dark choc melting inside with the vanilla sauce...

Forgive the picture quality as it was secretly taken from my not-too sophisticated-mobile camera(sigh!) but believe me....it tastes sooo good! Heavenly yum yum!

Colorful Necklace

My besties bought me a beautiful colorful stone necklace..As my weekender project I combined with the other two...my chain necklace from pasar Mayestik and of course my flower pompom,what else?

How's the result? I love the chain effect combined to the colorful stone but the more I look at it I think I'm in love with the stone necklace..u need not to combine, it's been standout on its own..effortless chic!

Durian House

If you are a durian-addict, you definitely should try this one..One of the best Medan culinary after Cheese Meranti cake..I guess.  It's durian wrapped in a very very thin pancake. 

It's purely durian inside..nothing else, no sugar, no essence.

I was first introduced by my besties.  And I then urged my hubby cousin to fly this to Jakarta.  In the unfortunate event, the seller did not want to deliver since they could not guarantee the freshness.  I don't give up easily.  I forced whoever travelling to Medan to bring this for me.  Mission accomplished one or two occasions but most of the cases it failed. 

I'd tried to buy in Jakarta but it taste too sweet, way too sweet as they add sugar.  Finally, last week, after my last box in the last couple months.......Yay!



Auntie Sanctuary

Eid Must-Do

This year Eid, despite we ate Ketupat for three days in a row, the Do's were vacay mode on, family pictures, the boys wearing uniform outfits from the grandmas, and the 2-years girls with abayya and hijab...I bet the girls were feeling a little bit hot and the boys will start complaining in the next 3 years...but before the time is coming, let's enjoy the moment!XOXO..

One of my timeless piece is Obin sarong.  Its so light, easy to use and you could wear in any occassions...at least for me.  You just need to tie it and..voila, it will wrap perfectly without worrying your body shape.  It also gives an instant ethnic look as you wish.

I was thinking to recreate the look by buying any batik fabrics but  I am not sure it will give the similar look.  I have few more in the different patterns and I even bought one for my besties wedding gift and she was wearing it to the office!

Baked Rice

No, no, no....I am not into catering business.

This was for an event around my neighborhood.  When I was asked by my neighbor to prepare a kinda lunch boxes for 80 people, my first thought was to go to the nearest catering and order.

But then I challenged myself and my maids why don't we prepare it by our own.  Yes, I called a challenge since we never had this before. 

I decided to prepare Nasi Bakar..Indonesian traditional baked rice, just for one reason, simplicity!  it's a one dish meal, wrapped in banana leaves..all in one go.

I called myself also as 'sok tau' when me and my maids tried to measure how much chicken, eggs, coriander leaves, rice we would need and the list continues...we are so clueless!  Moreover when the three of us wrapped it on weekend, we were exhausted!

Anyway, the results turned out to be successful.  Well...for others, this would be an easy task....but for us, this is trully an achievement! hahaha..my maids really made my day...HAPPY!
