One of my timeless piece is Obin sarong.  Its so light, easy to use and you could wear in any occassions...at least for me.  You just need to tie it and..voila, it will wrap perfectly without worrying your body shape.  It also gives an instant ethnic look as you wish.

I was thinking to recreate the look by buying any batik fabrics but  I am not sure it will give the similar look.  I have few more in the different patterns and I even bought one for my besties wedding gift and she was wearing it to the office!

Baked Rice

No, no, no....I am not into catering business.

This was for an event around my neighborhood.  When I was asked by my neighbor to prepare a kinda lunch boxes for 80 people, my first thought was to go to the nearest catering and order.

But then I challenged myself and my maids why don't we prepare it by our own.  Yes, I called a challenge since we never had this before. 

I decided to prepare Nasi Bakar..Indonesian traditional baked rice, just for one reason, simplicity!  it's a one dish meal, wrapped in banana leaves..all in one go.

I called myself also as 'sok tau' when me and my maids tried to measure how much chicken, eggs, coriander leaves, rice we would need and the list continues...we are so clueless!  Moreover when the three of us wrapped it on weekend, we were exhausted!

Anyway, the results turned out to be successful.  Well...for others, this would be an easy task....but for us, this is trully an achievement! hahaha..my maids really made my day...HAPPY!

Batik Chic

My Batik Chic sling bag has finally arrived..I love the combination of orange and blue tenun Bali in addition to the red sling handle...I usually not fond into a batik bag but this one is quite a head turner..at least for me, and I am proud to be Indonesian!

Batik Chic bag is quite happening in Jakarta now....I think they sell it online on Facebook, and also at Alun-Alun Indonesia, Grand Indonesia....but this one I bought from my besties who done her own hunting for the tenun Bali...love love love!

I then discussed with my maid whether we could make one...not me, her...

I had one sarong, a gift from an event.  I asked my maid to make it, so if it did not work well, I have nothing to loose..aha!  And look.....the modification version from the original and without sewing machine...Not bad, isn't it?

Paperless-Freak

I'm big offender in printing papers.  I'll print on the used papers if I have to.  Lucky, my office is quite paperless.  There are paperless mode available for some reports.  However, some people'd like to think that reviewing on paper is more fun than on screen.  I never tired convincing my believe that printing more papers mean killing more trees.  I will complain if I see one of my team member try to print something you could do paperless..

It's a tough one, but at least the boss now will say "sorry, I know you don't like this" or "sorry, I have to kill one more tree" if he prints..

It's a good start, isn't it?

Asian Food Channel

I always love watching AFC..it's a variety cooking show and will give you a tremendous recipes ideas,..you know how much I love cooking..well,not that I can cook ☹

The more I watch the show the more I realized that I rarely,hmm..never see Indonesian chefs nor any Indonesian recipes are in one of the show..hey,it's Asian Food Channel and Indonesia is in Asia,isn't it?

After a while, the question kept banging in my head and I don't know whom to ask until I had my own twitter and follow Bondan Winarno whom he claimed himself a Foody...well..no,pak..you are Indonesia culinary guru!

I know curiosity kills the cat but cat has nine lives, right? I eager myself to twit @PakBondan just to throw the question why Indonesian chefs are not in AFC..
