The Shumay Chronicles

It was started during Lebaran break when the mbaks were pulang kampung for two weeks.  It always be my dream project to introduce process to the kiddos...a non complicated one, of course.  I happened to find shumay recipes in one of my used newspaper pile and decided to make one..You could always browse around for the perfect recipe, your choice!

The 1st attempt was the most luxury as I used too much chicken to the flour, it's deliciously amazing but from the cost standpoint, I will be loosing some bucks..hahaha....no chance to become Shumay Millionaire, I would say.

The 2nd's better...i cut dumpling wrap into four and put a smaller shumay version....way to go, but...nom nom nom.   At least i don't have to buy now!

Looks pretty yummy? *proud shumay-wannabe businesswoman*

False Kite

I felt like it ain't easy to be the big city kiddos...You have to juggle between malls, traffic, Ipad, thousand choices on Cartoon Network, and......nothing else!  To be freely independent  outdoor boys then you have to deal with your protective mom and dad who told you to wash your hands all the time, do not touch this and that, go home before 5 and all the scheduled drama continues....(yeap, that's me, the mom!)

And the result proven itself....Lebaran day, with all the cousins, and it's time to fly kite!

They managed to fly low, but finally my brother asked help from the kampong boy who happened to pass by to fly it high......and  the boy said : u bought the wrong kite, it should not be this kite if you want to fly high.

OH lalalala, we are such a pro :)

It's a Wrap!

So this was our latest cooking project.  I am crazy over tortilla, but I never have the store-bought one...why? the frozen price in Jakarta is way too crazy expensive for a thin slice of cooked flour.

Managed to browse around and finally made it by ourselves.  It's an easy project and perfect for kiddos cooking as it feels like playing up with the dough...250 gr all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 cup warm water (add as u like depending on the dough consistency), 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking powder , stir, combined, cut into 8-12 pieces, roll and grill in non-stick pan...u're rock!

Another thing makes me proud, the youngest deeply in love to his homemade tortilla, he put choco jam and cheese for many times and insist me to make another roll this week....OK baby, let's roll!

The Power Juice

As much as I love this almond milk, the kiddos were so-so....as usual....rather than non-essential and timeless fighting, I rather save my energy to mix frozen black cherry and ripe banana into it....

And ta-da.......purple milkshake ala me!
