Museum Nasional

Finally...finally..managed to go to Museum Nasional on weekend.

The place is spacious with treasure collections all over the place.  One thing, travelling with two siblings who actively running errands while enjoying the window displays of ancient ceramics could be a nightmare.  But luckily, the center yard was a saviour playground! Pheww..

On our way home, the kiddos kissed us big thanks for taking them to the museum and they wanna come back someday....cute!

The big ones was Bali handmade I bought last year.  I love the color combo though i am not sure where I should put this as decorator..

The small ones, the little little ones..I bought in Bangkok on my short visit last week.  It's funny to see how design could travel through time and similarity between countries!

Becak Ride

It started when the eldest was two years old, I wanted him to feel the becak ride experience..the real one.   I always bring him to have the ride around my mom's house in Bandung.  I think he enjoyed it. It allowed him to chat with the becak driver. The tradition continues to the youngest since the eldest is now in his pre-teen stage..so he is not so into it! anyway.....

Bentara Budaya

Continuing my search for places to go on weekend without mall. Started from frequently asked questions by my expatriate colleagues on where to go. I am speechless sometimes as exploring Jakarta is not my thing.

I am even beaten by my Singaporean boss, who is a busway expert traveller. On a meeting around Sudirman he urged me to send the driver's back as he wanted us to go back to the office by busway....and I...."Really? are you sure? high heels?" with my frowning face!

So...one Sunday, Bentara Budaya Palmerah,  Jakarta.  

They have Gebyok, the Javanese traditional house in front and the exhibition room right after.  There was a Chinese exhibition when we got there.  Its quite fulfilling, free yet cheap...

We ended up having lunch at Blok S for the hawker foods afterward.  I again realized that this was the first time for the kiddos to know about the place as well as first timer tasting Es Podeng!Hmm....an addition to my wall of shame of exploring Jakarta!

Lunch at Bluegrass Epicentrum, Jakarta. The ambience is nice but dinner would be better since the weather was a bit hot that time.  It will be nice to sit outdoor sipping a cup of coffee!  The food? Try their grilled ribs or salmon!

Hutan Kota Srengseng

Biking around Jakarta is a challenge.  Well, for someone with lawzy driving ability like me, let's called it scary.  To beat Jakarta's road with motorcycle and cars everywhere is a big No No..even on the Car Free Day.

So this is a big Yay when me and the hubby finding this place..Hutan Kota Srengseng.  Big trees, lake, biking track, this place is quite promising for bikers. 

Where is it.....come again? Do not trust my navigation skill on locations, since I think I will be lost to come back! It's better to goggle!

Anyway..my next stop would be Ragunan Zoo!

Just about to finish my interview with fresh graduates....

My fave question always on how do you see yourself in the next 2 years, 5 years and 10 years..

The answers or the so-called reaction were quite surprising..they, well...not all, surprised with the question, paused for a while and clueless.

I thought people must pursue their own dream, and be passionate with it..you need to recognize yourself and be shameless to express..it's like pandora box, one box opens to another box, I believe the dream will lead you to something..

Just a thought! :)

Painting Project

Having two siblings who are always in a war mode, forced you to be creative to keep them occupied. 

One weekend, I put the canvas and oil painting on..It was my youngest bday gift last year. I think you could get it from the nearest mall or you could just buy white fabrics and oil paint from the bookstore.  It was fun....well, at least for a while.   After 30 minutes, they were back to their War Zone.  Get set, Ready......Fire!
